Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.
(Mat.25:40)Last month we started this marvellous news from the Gospel according to Mathew about those candidates to enter Heaven. What really matters here is what we are doing unto those less fortunate than we are. Here is what Mathew reported: “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Please remember that this conversation started when we saw refugees from Congo pouring into Burundi in miserable conditions. We decided to do something. All our members contributed according to their ability, to find help for the refugees. In this venture, International Ministries accompanied us with more resources to help those refugees. As soon as all needed items were gathered, the AMI team brought the aid and helped camp officials distribute them. Our AMI Coordinator, Mr. Innocent NDAYISABA summarizes the visit to the camp in these words: “April 23, 2025, the Association for the Integrated Mission being supported by International Ministries visited the gathered Congolese refugees in Cibitoke Province, Buganda Commune specifically at the Cishemere Transit Centre. The Association for the Integrated Mission made this trip with the emergency aid items incuding of cassava flour (2500 KG), dry fish“Ndagala” (100 kg), porridge flour (100 kg) sugar (100 kg), and soap valued at eighteen million ninety thousand Burundian francs. Let us know that the number of refugees gathered at the centre is approximately nine hundred and fifty people including the elderly, women, men, women and children. The Association for the Integrated Mission (AMI) provided this assistance to one hundred and ninety households. These refugees thanked very much both International Ministries and the Association for Integrated Mission of Burundi for coming to help them at this most difficult time.”
I am delighted AMI was able to to help the least of these, in this case, the Congolese refugees. I want to address our sincere gratitude to our esteemed partner, International Ministries for their prompt response.
Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”-Amen!
